Back in May we announced an early beta release of the new Box iOS SDK, built from the ground up in Swift.

After extensive feedback and testing by our beta group we are now ready to announce the general availability of the SDK to all of our Box Platform developers. You can download it now from our SDK page.

The new iOS SDK delivers full parity with the Box APIs, meaning that the SDK will be much easier to use with all features of Box Platform, as well as support for popular package managers, Cocoapods, Carthage, and the Swift Package Manager.

There are a few easy ways to get started with the new SDK to set up your first iOS mobile sample application:

  • The getting started ReadMe provides an excellent guide to get you set up.
  • There are two sample applications that show a simple file / folder integration within the app. These are available for JWT based applications (most popular integration) and standard OAuth 2.
  • A simple end-to-end integration of the JWT sample application, coupled with a downscoped token generation tool deployed to Heroku, is available here.

If you have any questions please reach out to us on our developer forum, and if you encounter any issues or bugs please file them on the Github issues page.

Enjoy!
